External operation mode (Pr. 79 = "0" (initial value), "2")
● Select the External operation mode when the start command and the frequency command are
applied from a frequency setting potentiometer, start switch, etc. which are provided externally
and connected to the control circuit terminals of the inverter.
● Generally, parameter change cannot be performed from the operation panel in the External
operation mode. (Some parameters can be changed. Refer to Pr. 77 "Parameter write selection"
page 5-211.)
● When Pr. 79 = "0 or 2", the inverter starts up in the External operation mode at power-ON. (When
using the Network operation mode, refer to page 5-280.)
● When parameter changing is seldom necessary, setting "2" fixes the operation mode to the
External operation mode.
When frequent parameter changing is necessary, setting "0" (initial value) allows the operation
mode to be changed easily to the PU operation mode by pressing the PU/EXT key of the operation
panel. After switching to the PU operation mode, always return to the External operation mode.
● The STF and STR signal are used as a start command, and the voltage to terminal 2 and 4, current
signal, multi-speed signal, and JOG signal are used as a frequency command.
