12.3.1 Connecting a Communications Partner
You can establish connections in either of the two following ways:
•
via a bus with transceivers (BT 777)
•
via a direct line (Direct line connection is possible only when the controllers are no further
apart than 1000 m.) Use a four-wire, shielded cable with a cross-section of at least 0.14 mm
(26 AWG). SIMATIC cable 6ES5 707-1AA00 is recommended.
Connector Pin Assignments (see also Appendix C)
Connect a 15-pin subminiature D connector with metal housing to each end of the cable.
Figure 12-6 shows the connector pin assignments.
