1.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
2.
Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section.
3.
Remove the sled from the enclosure.
4.
Remove the air shroud.
5.
Keep the flat blade screw driver ready.
Steps
1.
Place the heat sink with the processor side facing up.
2.
Insert the flat blade screw driver into the slot and twist the screw driver to break the seal created by the thermal paste.
NOTE: A yellow label on the heat sink marks the location of the screw driver insertion point.
3.
Push the retaining clips on the processor bracket to unlock the bracket from the heat sink.
4.
Lift the bracket and the processor away from the heat sink, and place the processor side down on the processor tray.
5.
Flex the outer edges of the bracket close to the fabric connector to release the bracket from the processor.
