Battery Voltage: DTC P0562 (16); DTC P0563 (16) (Part 1 of 2)
Remove spark plug cables from spark plugs.
Measure voltage a Breakout Boxt connector [10]
1 (Black) terminal "9" and Ground, while cranking
engine. Disregard voltage during first two seconds
positive terminal (+) and ignition relay terminal
positive terminal (+) and ignition relay terminal
Perform charging system tests.
See STARTING and CHARGING SYSTEM.
YES
Attach Breakout Box (B-48115) to ECM.

Is voltage above 6.2 volts?
YES
System
OK.
YES
Measure voltage drop between battery
"87" or "5" with Ignition Switch ON.
Is voltage drop greater than 0.5 volt?
YES
Measure voltage drop between battery
"30" or "3" with Ignition Switch ON.
Is voltage drop greater than 0.5 volt?
YES
STOP
Go to Battery Voltage
Test DTC P0562 (16);
P0563 (16) (Part 1 of 2).
Charging system OK?
Repair charging
system.
NO
Measure voltage drop between battery
2
positive terminal (+) and Breakout Box connector
[10] (Black) terminal "9" with key ON.
Is voltage drop greater than 0.5 volt?
NO
Check for excessive starter current
draw. See STARTING and
CHARGING SYSTEM TESTING.
NO
Repair (GY) wire
or terminals.
NO
Replace Ignition
Relay.
NOTE:
Clear DTCs and confirm proper operation with no
check engine lamp. Codes can be cleared using
DIGITAL TECHNICIAN (Part No. HD-44750).
