Position the cursor to the right of the character or number you
want to delete.
Press the Backspace key.
Action
Position the cursor to the left of the character or number you
want to delete.
Press the Delete key.

Highlight the character or number.
Click on Edit on the Main Menu bar and click on Cut to delete.
