5.1 Configuring the IMM2 settings

For any successful server implementation, you should provide access to perform
troubleshooting or routine maintenance. The x3850 X6 and x3950 X6 servers ship standard
with the Integrated Management Module (IMM2). The IMM2 is a separate, independent
service processor that is running as long as the server is plugged into a power source. The
IMM2 monitors the hardware components of the server for potential hardware faults.

5.1.1 IMM2 virtual presence

The IMM2 provides a virtual presence capability for remote server management capabilities.
It provides remote server management through industry-standard interfaces:
Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) Version 2.0
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Version 3
Common Information Model (CIM)
Web browser (Supported browsers include: Internet Explorer 8 and higher, Firefox 3.6 and
higher, Chrome 13 and higher)
The remote presence provides the following functions:
Remotely viewing video with graphics resolutions up to 1600x1200 at 75 Hz with up to 23
bits per pixel colors, regardless of the system state
Remotely accessing the server using the keyboard and mouse from a remote client
Mapping the CD or DVD drive, diskette drive, and USB flash drive on a remote client, and
mapping ISO and diskette image files as virtual drives that are available for use by the
server.
