5. Remove the timing chain guide (exhaust
side).
6. Remove the intake camshaft caps and ex-
haust camshaft caps.
TIP:
Loosen the camshaft cap bolts in the opposite
order used for tightening.
7. Remove the intake camshaft "1" and ex-
haust camshaft "2".
TIP:
Fasten the timing chain using a wire "3".

Camshaft sprocket removal

1. Hold the camshaft sprocket using the spe-
cial service tool "1", and then loosen the
camshaft sprocket bolts "2".

2. Remove the intake camshaft sprocket and
exhaust camshaft sprocket.

Camshaft check

1. Check the camshaft lobes. Replace if pit-
ted or scratched.
2. Measure the cam lobe height "a". Replace
if out of specification.

41.330–41.430 mm (1.6272–1.6311 in)
Limit
41.230 mm (1.6232 in)
Cam lobe height-exhaust
41.220–41.320 mm (1.6228–1.6268 in)
Limit
41.120 mm (1.6189 in)
3. Measure the camshaft journal diameter
"a".

Journal diameter
24.960–24.980 mm (0.9827–0.9835 in)
4. Measure the camshaft runout. Replace if
out of specification.
