Video Calls

The Cisco IP Phone 8845 and 8865 support video calls with a built-in video camera. Use the camera to
collaborate with friends and coworkers or to hold face-to-face meetings over your phone.
Both parties on a call must have a phone with video capabilities to have a video call.
A video call includes the following features:
• PIP—Displays a smaller picture of the outgoing video, allowing you to see incoming and outgoing video
• Hide Video—Moves the displayed video behind the active call. The video in PIP is not displayed. Use
• Swap—Toggles the views in the PIP view. The Swap soft key is grayed out when PIP is off.
• Self-view Video—Select Self-view to view your image as it appears on video.
The Cisco IP Phone 8845 and 8865 have manual shutters. When you are on an active call, turn the shutter
clockwise to open the shutter and transmit video. Turn the shutter counterclockwise to close the shutter and
stop the video transmission. Closing the shutter during a video call does not end the call.
We recommend that you close the camera shutter after each call to ensure that you do not send unwanted
video to the next caller.
During a video call, the softkey features display on the phone screen. But they disappear from the screen after
10 seconds if you do not press a button. Press any softkey, and the softkey features reappear.
