This section is to guide you to perform your first scan by using the ScanWizard Pro.
You should familiarize yourself with the basic scanning technique before you
continue further scanning scenarios described in next pages.
1. Launch ScanWizard Pro either as a standalone by clicking the program icon, or by

using the File-Import or File-Acquire command from your image-editing program
(such as Adobe Photoshop). Alternatively, you can start ScanWizard Pro from the
Applications folder in your Mac OS X system.
• If this is your first time to launch the ScanWizard Pro, you will be prompted to
perform a calibration for your scanner. For details about how to calibrate your
scanner, refer to the section titled "Calibrating Your Scanner" in this manual.
Note: It is a must procedure and activated automatically only when the
ScanWizard Pro is started up for the first time. When you follow the on-screen
instructions to finish the calibration, you will not be asked to perform the
calibration anymore when you scan photos or film later.
• When the scanner calibration is finished, you will be prompted to perform
color calibration for your scanner. (Dialog boxes below show appearance in
Windows XP and Mac OS X).
