pulley become twisted or frayed
while the scanner is
moving?
Move the No. 1 mirror mount
slowly by hand. Does it move
smoothly?
Is the problem noted at inter-
vals of about 94 mm?
Is the problem noted at inter-
vals of 35 mm?

YES 1. Re-route the cable.
2. Replace the cable.
NO Clean the surface of the scan-
ner rail with alcohol; thereafter,
apply a small amount of lubri-
catnt.
YES 1. Check the drum drive
assembly.
2. Check the drum ends (in
contact with the developing
rolls) for scratches and for-
eign matter.
YES Check the developing assem-
bly.
1. Check the drum drive
assembly.
2. Replace the drum unit.
