Trim fin. Setting
No adjustment is required if the boat has power
steering. If the boat is not equipped with the power
steering the trim fin should be set depending on the
propeller rotation.
WARNING! Immobilize the engine before starting
work.
The following initial setting applies for both
double and single installations:
With a left-rotating propeller (B) the measurement D is
83 mm (E = 5°). With a right-rotating propeller (A)
the measurement F is 57 mm (G = 30°). Tighten the
trim fin using 38-44 Nm.
If the steering wheel still feels heavy further
adjustment may be required.
Bellows. Check
Remove the drive from mounting fork. Check the
condition on the universal joint and the exhaust
bellows every year. If there are cracks or other
defects they must be replaced. Otherwise replace
every other year.
WARNING! Removal of the drive requires special
knowledge and tools. A falling drive can cause
serious personal injury. Please contact your
nearest authorized Volvo Penta dealer for
assistance.
Lubrication. CV joint
Remove the drive from mounting fork. The CV joint is
lubricated by the two lubricating nipples (1). Press in
grease until it is forced out of the bearing. Use an EP
wheel bearing grease. NOTE! The splined joint on the
shaft (2) must be greased using molybdenum grease.
Lubricate the two O rings (3) with a little engine oil.
WARNING! Removal of the drive requires special
knowledge and tools. A falling drive can cause
serious personal injury. Please contact your
nearest authorized Volvo Penta dealer for
assistance.
