Drive belts. General
WARNING! Always turn the engine off before
starting maintenance work.
Check the tension and condition of the belts regularly.
A belt that is too tight can damage the bearings and a
belt that is too loose can result in slippage. Check and
adjust as necessary after operating the engine when
the belts are warm.
IMPORTANT! Always replace belts which are
worn or have cracks. Check the tension of the
new belt after several hours of operation.
Generator and circulation pump
It should be possible to depress a belt at the correct
tension approx. 10 mm (0.4") down between the
pulleys.
Adjustment: Unscrew the screws (1) and if necessary
(2). Adjust to correct tension. Tighten the screws.
Replacing: Unscrew the screws (1 and 2) so the belt
can be removed. Clean off the pulley grooves. Install
the new belt. Adjust as above.
Seawater pump
It should be possible to depress a belt at the correct
tension approx. 5 mm (0.4") down between the
pulleys.
A torque wrench is required for adjustment. Unscrew
the screws (1 and 2). Locate the torque wrench's
square plug in the hole (3). Tighten to 60 Nm. Tighten
the screws.
Servo pump (SX)
It should be possible to depress a belt at the correct
tension approx. 10 mm (0.4") down between the
pulleys.
Adjustment: Unscrew the screws (1 and 2). Adjust to
correct tension. Tighten the screws.
Replacing: Unscrew the screws (1 and 2) so the belt
can be removed. Clean off the pulley grooves. Install
the new belt. Adjust as above.
