Seawater system. Draining
To prevent freezing damage the seawater system
must be drained in cold weather where there is a risk
of frost.
IMPORTANT! If the boat does not have a
seacock (boats with SX for example) the boat
must be standing on dry land in order to drain the
entire seawater system.
An alternative to draining is to keep the engine
compartment free of frost using an approved heater
fan.
Draining (with the boat out of the water):
1. Check that the seacock is open.
2. Remove the cover from the seawater pump and let
the water run out.
3. MD/TMD22: Drain the water from the heat
exchanger by opening the cock/plug (1).
TAMD22: Drain the water from the heat exchanger
and charge air cooler (CAC) by opening the cock/
plug (2) on the charge air cooler (CAC).
4. Engines with seawater filter: Remove the cover
(3) and sealing plate (4) on the sea water filter.
Detach the hose on the seawater pump inlet side
(5) and empty it of water.
5. MS25/HS25: Drain the water from the oil cooler by
opening the plug (6).
6. SX-drive: Trim drive out to max. raised position.
Remove drain plug (7). Trim drive in max. and let
the water run out.
7. Connect all hoses and close/install all drain cocks
and plugs before you leave the boat.
Draining (with the boat in the water:
WARNING! Risk for water penetration.
1. Close the seacocks. Then remove the hose by the
seacock (8) and allow the water to run out into a
container.
2. Carry out points 2-5 and point 7 in the previous
paragraph.
