8 Fault-finding

8.1 General (all installations)

Check the following, in sequence (by service engineer).
Step Signs
1 Boiler display is blank
2 Boiler display shows a fault code
3 Boiler display shows operating code

4 Use boiler manual override
§ 4.1.3
5 Override external controls by fitting a link
across terminals 3 and 4 of the boiler terminal
strip
6 With the Celcia MC4 or another OpenTherm
controller: Check the communication between
controller and boiler with the aid of the "code"
window and
panel
7 Investigate boiler settings and wiring

The mains voltage 230 V
Fuse F3 on electric connector
The control box fuses
For flashing digits
Does the boiler start up?
Does boiler start up?
Under the normal operating condition, press
the " " - key for 2 seconds: does the top
part not flash in the code window?

Check the parameter settings of the boiler
Check the wiring on the boiler terminal strip

Actions
Replace fuse if necessary, but check what
circuit it was protecting and rectify if faulty.
If yes, follow instructions in the table
§ 8.2
Go to point 4.
Try to find the cause of the fault, using
operating mode shown.
Yes, check external control and wiring, or
go to point 6.
No, go to point 5.
Yes, check boiler parameters. If all OK, then
replace control box.
No, repeat point 3, or go to point 6.
Communication (connection) with the
control unit is not in order or the control unit
is defective.
Communication with the controller is not in
order or the control unit is defective or the
controller is defective.
Replace the control unit.
If all is correct, replace the control box.
