Water Cooled Condenser Water Supply and Drains

CONDENSER WATER SUPPLY

Local water conditions may require treatment of the
water to inhibit scale formation, filter sediment, and
remove chlorine odor and taste.

WATER COOLED CONDENSER LINES

Follow these guidelines to install water lines:
Contact your distributor if your water pressure is
greater than 150 psig (1034 kPA). A special order
condensing unit is available that allows water
pressure up to 350 psig (2413 kPA).
Install a shutoff valve (inlet and outlet on cooling
tower or closed loop circuits) to allow isolation of the
water system.
Water entering the condenser must not exceed 90°F
(32.2°C).
Water flow through the condenser must not exceed 5
gallons (19 liters) per minute.
Allow for a pressure drop of 8 psig (55 kPA) between
the condenser water inlet and outlet.
Water exiting the condenser must not exceed 110°F
(43.3°C).
Do not connect to the potable water filter system.

CONDENSING UNIT DRAIN CONNECTIONS

The condensing unit drain is provided to remove any
condensate produced by the suction accumulator.
Condensate amounts will vary depending on
temperature and humidity.
The condensing unit must be level front to back and
side to side to allow the condensate to drain.
Drain lines must have a 1.5-inch drop per 5 feet of
run (2.5 cm per meter), and must not create traps.
Drain termination must meet applicable costs.
