Trouble on an Accessory

Paging System

Note: Your paging amplifier must be compatible with the Type II Car-
tridge output of 500- to 700-ohm impedance at 0 to 10 dBm.
Step 1.
Using directions in your paging system manual, test whether your paging
amplifier is operational. If it is, go on to Step 2.
Note: If a microphone or test signal is not available, momentarily placing
the input leads across a small dry-cell (1.5-volt) should produce a
loud clicking sound at the speaker.

Step 2.
Make certain that the Type II Cartridge is properly inserted into the con-
trol unit.
Step 3.
Count the number of speakers connected to your paging system.
IF
Your paging system only uses one
speaker,
Your paging system uses more
than one speaker and none are
working,
Your paging system uses more
than one speaker and at least one
is working,
Step 4. Check your Type II Cartridge.
IF
A music source is connected to the
M1 and M2 terminals,
A music source is not connected to
the M1 and M2 terminals,
Step 5.
Check the wiring for physical defects between the paging amplifier and
the Type II Cartridge by disconnecting the wires from the T and R termi-
nals of the cartridge and momentarily placing the wires across a small
dry-cell (1.5-volt) battery. This should produce a loud clicking sound at
the speaker.

Unplug the control unit power cord from the ac outlet
before inserting or removing a cartridge.
Go on to Step 4.
Go on to Step 4.
Trouble found. One or more of
your speakers is defective. Replace
the defective speaker(s).
