RDS   M enu  
The   R DS   c ontrol   s ection   o f   O mnia.9   c ontains   t he   M ain   R DS   m enu,   f ields   f or   P rogram   S ervice   ( PS)   a nd  
Radio  Text  (RT)  information,  program  identification  fields,  selectable  dynamic  Program  Type  (PTY),  
selectable   f lags,   a nd   a   s ection   f or   s electing   a lternative   f requencies.  
RDS   M ain   M enu  
The   Main   Menu   controls   allow   you   to   enable   RDS,   choose   in   which   mode   it   operates,   and   set   the  
injection   l evel.  
The   Injection   Level   slider   sets   the   amount   of   RDS   injection   from   0   –   15%.     The   default  
setting   i s   4 %.  
 
The   R DS   M ode   d rop-­‐down   m enu   a llows   y ou   t o   c hoose   f rom   s everal   d ifferent   R DS   o ptions.

When  set  to  Off  56kHz,  RDS  is  turned  completely  off  and  the  audio  extends  all  the  
way  out  to  56kHz.    In  this  mode,  it  is  not  possible  to  use  an  external  RDS  encoder,  
even   one   installed   after   Omnia.9,   as   the   audio   occupies   the   portion   of   the  
bandwidth   n ormally   r eserved   f or   R DS.

provided   b y   a n   e xternal   R DS   e ncoder   l ocated   a fter   O mnia.9.

In   the   Internal   mode,   Omnia.9's   built-­‐in   RDS   encoder   is   active.     Because   RDS   is  
taken   i nto   c onsideration   b y   t he   c omposite   c lipper,   t here   i s   n o   l oss   o f   l oudness   w ith  
this   mode.     Therefore,   we   highly   recommend   using   the   Internal   mode   whenever  
possible.

The   External   Input   1,   External   Input   2,   and   External   Input   1+2   modes   determine  
which   of   Omnia.9's   MPX   inputs   are   active   for   RDS   input   when   using   an   external  
encoder.  
 
The   MPX   2   Output   Mode   drop-­‐down   menu   allows   you   to   determine   whether   Omnia.9's  
MPX  2  Output  will  feed  the  full  MPX  signal,  the  19kHz  pilot  extracted  from  the  MPX  signal,  
or   a   u nique   a nd   s eparately   g enerated   1 9kHz   p ilot   s ignal.
