The   G ain   s lider   c ontrols   t he   i nput   l evel   i nto   t he   r ecorder.     I f,   f or   e xample,   y ou   a re   r ecording  
from  the  MPX  patch  point  with  this  control  set  at  -­‐3dB,  you  will  get  a  -­‐3dB  peak  MPX  file,  
suitable   f or   u se   i n   a   m odulation   m onitoring   s oftware   p rogram   s uch   a s   M pxTool.      
 
If   you   are   recording   directly   from   the   Omnia.9   unit   or   on   a   remote   computer   with   a   high  
speed   c onnection   t o   O mnia.9,   t he   S ource   w indow   w ill   s how   " PCM,"   i ndicating   t he   r ecording  
will   be   an   uncompressed   PCM   wave   file.     If   you   have   a   slower   remote   connection,   the  
window  will  show  "Vorbis"  indicating  that  the  file  is  being  recorded  in  a  compressed  (lossy)  
format.     I n   e ither   c ase,   t he   r ecorder   a lways   p roduces   a   F LAC   ( Free   L ossless   A udio   C odec)   f ile.      
 
The  Minimize  File  Size  control  automatically  adjusts  the  recording  resolution  to  match  the  
actual  noise  floor  of  the  audio,  allowing  you  to  record  a  full  hour  of  off-­‐air  MPX  audio  in  a  
file   s ize   o f   o nly   5 00mb.      
 
You  also  have  the  option  to  use  Omnia.9's   Time-­‐Based  File  Splitting  feature,  which  allows  
you   t o   r ecord   f iles   o f   a   s pecified   l ength   ( 15   m inutes,   3 0   m inutes,   1   h our,   2   h ours,   3   h ours,   o r  
4   hours).     As   it   is   sample-­‐accurate,   you   can   splice   the   files   together   after   recording   if   you  
like.     T here   i s   n o   f ile   l imit   s ize   ( other   t han   t he   a mount   o f   s pace   o n   y our   e xternal   d rive)   s o   f ile  
splitting   i s   n ot   r equired,   o nly   a n   o ption.  
 
Time/Date   M enu  
The   T ime/Date   m enu   h as   t hree   s ub-­‐menus   f or   s etting   O mnia.9's   i nternal   c lock.  
The   Time   Zone   menu   allows   you   to   choose   the   proper   time   zone   for   your   particular  
geographical   a rea.     D aylight   S avings   T ime   i s   a utomatically   a pplied   i n   a pplicable   t ime   z ones.  
The   NTP   menu   contains   the   addresses   for   five   Network   Time   Protocol   servers.     When  
enabled,   NTP   Synchronization   will   use   one   of   these   servers   to   keep   the   Omnia.9's   clock  
synchronized.  
The  Set  Clock  Manually  menu  contains  the  controls  for  manually  setting  the  time  and  date.  
Selecting   the   Update   Time   Sliders   or   Update   Date   Sliders   buttons   will   refresh   the   time  
displayed  on  the  sliders.    Use  the  Set  Hour,  Set  Minute,  Set  Second,  Set  Year,  Set  Month,  
and   Set   Day   sliders   to   reflect   the   current   time   and   date,   then   select   Apply   Time   or   Apply  
Date   t o   p ut   t he   n ew   v alues   y ou've   s et   i nto   e ffect.  
System   C onfiguration   M enu  
The   System   Config   menu   contains   the   controls   to   select   an   internal   sample   rate,   set   a   system  
password,   establish   an   IP   "white   list"   for   remote   HTTP   access,   assign   an   IP   address   to   the   unit,  
determine   how   many   processing   cores   are   available,   and   how   many   streaming   encoders   of   each  
variety   are   available.     You   can   also   check   the   software   and   GUI   versions,   save   your   custom  
configurations   to   a   USB   drive,   update   to   the   latest   software   versions,   and,   if   you   purchased   an  
Omnia.9   w ithout   t he   a dditional   H D   a nd   s treaming   c apabilities,   u pgrade   t o   t he   f ull   m ulti-­‐cast   v ersion  
from   t his   m enu.
