Quick   S tart   S etup   G uide  
We  know  that  you're  probably  in  a  hurry  to  get  your  new  Omnia.9  installed  and  on  the  air.    If  you  
have  technical  expertise  and  previous  knowledge  of  audio  processor  fundamentals,  this  Quick-­‐Start  
Setup   G uide   w ill   g et   y ou   u p   a nd   r unning   a s   q uickly   a s   p ossible.  
We  suggest  having  an  assistant  on  hand  when  racking  up  Omnia.9  to  help  balance  the  unit  during  
installation,   a nd   s trongly   r ecommend   u sing   a ll   4   r ack   s crews   f or   t he   b est   s upport.     A lthough   O mnia.9  
is   f an   c ooled,   l eaving   a n   e mpty   r ack   s pace   d irectly   a bove   a nd   b elow   t he   u nit   i s   a dvisable.    
Physical   I nstallation   a nd   I nitial   C onfiguration  
Connect   A C   p ower   t o   b oth   o f   t he   i nternal   p ower   s upplies.     T here   i s   n o   p ower   s witch.     F ailure  
to  use  both  power  supplies  is  interpreted  by  the  unit  as  a  failure  in  one  of  the  supplies  and  
will   r esult   i n   a n   a udible   a larm.  
 
Connect   the   audio   inputs   as   appropriate   for   your   installation.     Omnia.9   accepts   balanced  
professional   line-­‐level   analog   audio   via   its   Left   and   Right   Inputs   in   the   Main   Analog   I/O  
section  of  the  rear  panel,  or  AES/EBU  digital  audio  on  standard  XLR  connectors  via  its  Main  
and  AES  Reference  Inputs  in  the  Main  Digital  I/O  section  of  the  rear  panel  and  Aux  Digital  
Input   i n   t he   A ux   D igital   I /O   s ection.    
 
A   W ord   a bout   A ES   R eference   a nd   S ample   R ates:     I f   y ou   n eed   t o   s ync   t he   O mnia.9   t o   a n   e xternal  
reference,  use  the  AES  Reference  Input  to  ensure  that  the  externally  generated  reference   w ill  be  
used   a s   t he   m ain   c lock   f or   t he   O mnia.9.     H owever,   O mnia.9's   m ain   s ample   r ate   M UST   b e   s et   t o  
match   t he   r ate   o f   t he   e xternal   r eference   a t   e ither   4 4.1   o r   4 8kHz.     T hese   s ettings   a re   f ound   i n   t he  
System   Configuration   portion   of   the   System   menu.   For   HD   radio,   a   sample   rate   of   44.1kHz   is  
required.     Sample   rate   converters   are   present   on   both   the   Main   Digital   In   and   Aux   Digital   In  
connections,   a nd   a ccept   a ny   A ES   s ignal   f rom   3 2   –   1 92kHz.
