Nikon has wisely included the ability to GEO-tag your
images with GPS
spectacular travel image, you can rest assured that you'll be
able to find that exact spot next year. The D300(S) will record
the following GPS information about your location in the
metadata of each image:
▪ Latitude
▪ Longitude
▪ Altitude
▪ Heading (North, South, etc.)
▪ UTC (Time)
What You'll Need to Use a GPS Unit
with Your D300(S)
The GPS unit you choose must be compatible with the
National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA0183)
version 2.01 or 3.01 data format.
I bought a Garmin eTrex Legend GPS unit to use with my
D300 since the eTrex series is mentioned on page 201 of the
D300 user's manual.
