Utilities Access

The Compaq SmartStart and Support Software CD contains the SmartStart program and many
of the Compaq utilities needed to maintain the system, including:

Array Configuration Utility
I
Erase Utility
I
Array Diagnostic Utility (ADU)
I
ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Utilities
I
Compaq Diagnostics

Running Compaq Utilities

Compaq Utilities can be run from diskette or from the Compaq SmartStart and Support
Software CD.
Running the Utilities from Diskette

Run the utilities from their individual diskettes. If you have a utility diskette newer than
the version on the SmartStart and Support Software CD, use that diskette.

Create a diskette version of the utility from the SmartStart and Support Software CD.
To create diskette versions of the utilities from the CD
1. Power up the system using the Compaq SmartStart and Support Software CD.
2. From the Compaq System Utilities screen, select Create Support Software Disks, and then
select Next.
3. Select the diskette you would like to create from the list, and then follow the instructions
on the screen.
Running the Utilities from the Compaq SmartStart and Support
Software CD
IMPORTANT: Only the Array Configuration Utility and the Array Diagnostic Utility (ADU) can be executed
from the Compaq SmartStart and Support Software CD. All other utilities must be executed from diskette.
To run these utilities directly from the Compaq SmartStart and Support Software CD:
1. Power up the system using Compaq SmartStart and Support Software CD.
2. From the Compaq System Utilities screen, select the utility you wish to run, and then
select Next.
CAUTION: Do not select the Erase Utility when running the SmartStart and Support
Software CD. This selection results in data loss to the entire system.
