Install Electrical Components for Decorative
Lighting
Wall Dimmer Switch
The electrical installation must be performed
by a qualifi ed installer and must be electrically
wired and grounded in accordance with local codes,
or, in the absence of local codes, with the National
Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 or the Canadian
Electrical Code, CSA C22.1.
The fi replace is equipped with a decorative light
located in front of and above the window. The
light is pre-wired to a junction box on the right
hand side, inside the fi replace. A switched power
supply to the knock-out on the right hand side is
required to complete the installation. A dimmer is
recommended—see specifi cations below.*
1. Turn the power off at the fuse box.
2. Decide where the dimmer will be located. If you are
not sure, check with the homeowner.
3. Install the outlet box and connect the dimmer to the
electrical wiring (all components—not supplied—
available from your local electrical hardware store).
4. Locate the electrical wire in the junction box inside
the fi rebox outer lining, on the right hand side.
Remove its cover.
5. Run the electrical wires from the dimmer and
thread it through the knock-out of the fi rebox to the
junction box.
6. In the junction box, hardwire the harness to the
electrical wire. Refi t the junction box cover. Outside
the fi rebox, fi t a cable clamp.
7. Fit the cover plate to the wall (not supplied).
Fitting the Decorative Light bulb
1. Locate the decorative light fi xture inside the fi rebox
top, just in front of the window.
2. Loosen the screws of the tabs located on each side
of the decorative light fi xture.
3. While holding the glass cover, turn on of the
retaining tabs to free the glass.
4. With a gloved hand, take the halogen light bulb
from its packaging and insert in the light fi xture.
5. Turn the power back on at the fuse box.
6. Turn on the dimmer switch to ensure good function
and then, turn it off.
7. Put the glass cover back in place and, while
holding it, turn the retaining tabs back to cover the
glass edges.
8. Tighten the tabs screws.
