Appendix A. Advanced Functions
Disabling the Boot PROM
Follow the steps listed below to disable the Boot PROM for the ISA
Ethernet Adapters.

Follow the instructions under "Changing a Configuration" on
page 27.

From the DISPLAY/CHANGE ADAPTER CONFIGURATION
window, select the Advanced Configuration Options.
The ADVANCED CONFIGURATION OPTIONS window will be
displayed.

Select Boot PROM enabled at XXXX. Upon selection, this
option will change to No Boot PROM.
Note: If you have disabled the Boot PROM, the change will
not take effect until you have performed a "cold boot" (A
cold boot is done by turning the power off to your computer,
waiting 3 to 5 seconds, then turning the power back on.).

Return to the previous menu and save the configuration.
The Boot PROM is now disabled.
Continue with "Running Adapter Diagnostics" on page 25.
Manual Installation for the NDIS Device Driver
When manually installing the NDIS Device Drivers, the DEVICE =
statement must be manually inserted into the CONFIG.SYS file on
your workstation.
The DEVICE = statement for the NDIS Device Driver must follow
the DEVICE = statement for the Protocol Manager.
