Five-Fan Module Power Connector: FAN
A module consisting of five 40mm, multi-speed fans provides the pri-
mary airflow for the system. A 12-wire cable/connector provides the fan mod-
ule with power and tach lines, allowing each fan to be monitored indepen-
dently by server management software. The power cable is connected to a 12-
pin header located on the mainboard.
The fan module is a single component. The individual fans that make up
the module are not swappable or individually replaceable. Should a fan fail,
the entire module will need to be replaced. A tab on the side of the fan module
makes replacement of the module tool-less and very simple. As the fan mod-
ule is not hot swappable, the server must be turned off before the fan module
can be replaced.
