Convertible child restraint

This page will help you recognize
the different
parts of your Toddler
First note that some vehicles
have no seating
positions
which are
Restraint.
Guide

compatible
with this Toddler Restraint
(see below).
Read this section
carefully.
If in doubt,
return
to
the
dealer
for
help.
Length
of Seat Belt
Lap belts and lap-shoulder
belts will work
with the Toddler Restraint,
if the belt length
is long enough
to fit into the slot on the Toddler
Restraint.
If the seat belt is not long enough,
NEVER use the Toddler
Restraint
without
the Impact
Shield.
Use an alternative
vehicle
seating
position.
1. Place the Toddler
Restraint
onto
a compatible
seating
position
with nothing
between
it and the seat. Adjust
the vehicle
seat back
so that the restraint
lies flush against
the seat. Adjust the vehicle
head rest into lowest
position
to further
support
the child's head.
2. Sit the child down in the restraint.
3. Place the impact shield on the armrests
of the restraint,
in front
of the child's abdomen.
The slot for the vehicle's
seat belt should
be on the front
side, away from the child.

belt
out
partially,
but
not
completely.

Seat Belts
There are several
types
of seat belts that
will NOT work
with the
Toddler
Restraint
and must not be used.
l
Front
three
point
(lap and shoulder)
seat belts that attach
(top
belt:
Lap
Belt
(Z-point)
Seat
Belt:
or bottom)
to the vehicle
door.
l
Motor
driven
automatic
belts of any kind.
A. Insert
the lap belt into
the
belt
guides
on both
sides of the impact
shield,
through
the slots
of the
guide
and fasten
the seat
belt buckle.
Rear
Seating
Positions
are Safest
B. Tighten
the seat
belt
According
to accident
statistics,
in a vehicle
with rear designated
seating
positions,
children
are safer
when
properly
restrained
in
rear seating
positions
than in front
seating
positions.
As a rule, if
the appropriate
seat belt is available,
use the rear middle
position.
The second
choice
is the rear outboard
position,
on the curb side.

This restraint
contains
a special
device
that will automatically
turn
off the front
passenger-side
airbag
ONLY in BabySmartTM
equipped
vehicles.
It MUST
NOT be used
in the front
seat
of vehicles
without
the BabySmartm
System.
Failure
to do so may result in
injury
or death to the child. Owners
of vehicles
with front passenger
airbags
should refer to their vehicle
owner's
manual for child restraint
installation
instructions.
Lap and Shoulder
(3-point)
Seat Belt:
A. Without
inserting
the seat belt into the belt guides of the restraint,
fasten
the seat belt buckle.
B. Fit the lap belt section
into the belt guides
on both sides of the
impact
shield,
through
the slots
of the guide,
and pull snug.
C. Carefully
guide the shoulder
belt section
along the lap belt section
and insert
into the belt guide slots.
D. Make
sure the belt is not twisted.
E. Without
unbuckling
the seat belt, pull the seat belt out completely
then feed back until the restraint
is snugly
fitted.

VEHICLE
EQUIPPED
WITH
A BABYSMART".'
AIRBAG
DEACTIVATION
SYSTEM
AND THE FRONT
PASSENGER
AIRBAG
IS OFF, BE AWARE
OF THE FOLLOWING:
Never
install by using the lap belt in the guide and the shoulder
belt
over the child.
Seat Orientation
The Toddler
Restraint
is not intended
for use in vehicle
seats that
are side facing.
Do not use it in such seats.
