6. Align the rear arm with the rear hole in the
mounting bracket (see Fig. 7-85). Secure the
rear arm with a cap screw and lock washer. DO.."
NOT TIGHTEN AT THIS TIME.
NOTE: Do not tighten any of the four cap
screws until all have been started. To
obtain proper alignment of the rear arm, pry the
arm in the proper direction until alignment is
obtained.

Again tip the snowmobile onto the opposite side
and install the remaining rear arm cap screw
and lock washer. Follow the same procedure as
in step 6.
,8. Tighten all four skid frame mounting cap screws
to 3.2 kg-m (23 ft-Ib).

9. Tighten the two track-tension adjustment bolts.
Tighten evenly until track deflection is within
specifications; then lock the jam nuts to secure
the adjustment.
NOTE: The cap screws securing the rear
idler wheels must be loosened when
adjusting track tension. Be sure to tighten after
making the adjustment.
10. Check track tension and alignment (see Track
Tension and Alignment sections).
11. Adjust suspension.
12. Install the battery and battery box. Secure with
nuts, washers, and cap screws. Attach the posi­
tive battery cable, then the negative.
The positive cable must be connected first.

WARNING
Shut engine off and make sure ignition switch key is
in the OFF position.
1. Using a shielded safety stand, raise the rear of
the snowmobile off the floor.
2.
Using a scale to exert moderate pressure (9 kg
or 20 Ib), pull track down at mid-span and
measure the distance between the bottom of
the wear strip and the inside surface of the
track. Track deflection must be within specifica­
tions.

NOTE: When the track is new, it will stretch
slightly and take a "set" within the first 300
to 500 miles of operation.

If measurement is not as specified, loosen the
jam nuts of the adjustment bolts.
