6.4.2.2 Automatic product teach-in

To get optimum product compensation, which results in optimum sensitivity, pay attention to the
following:
•
The real conveying speed must correspond with the rate which was set at Setup (deviation
max. ± 20%).
•
During product teach-in procedure the products must be conveyed always in the same direc-
tion.
•
For products conveyed piece by piece each step must be repeated minimum 2 times. Better
results are achieved with several repetitions to average product straggling.
For products conveyed continuously wait, as a thumb rule, that the product has passed 5 x
of the detector length before confirming and initializing the next step.
•
Avoid vibrations during teach- in procedure. Vibrations would considerably affect the results!
Convey product: After choosing „Auto. learn" in menu „Teach-in product"
(when „New product" was selected before, this menu is skipped) and after a
short „Please wait" message the system requires to convey a product.
Pay attention to the instructions below!
Confirming the action by pressing the key „O.K." normally „Product compen-
sation status 2" is displayed.
With the multi frequency version (option) „Frequency change" will be dis-
played. The lower frequency will then be selected.
Prod. Comp. active, Status #: This step sets the product compensation
parameters, which are „phase angle" and thresholds for the metal alarm.
Confirm after several runs by pushing „O.K." This procedure will be required
several times depending on the strength of product effect. The numbers of
steps is displayed as „status".
If the teach in procedure has been successful then the menu „Manual
parameter setting „ appears, which allows to manually adjust the automatic
set parameters (see also below).
Product effect extremely high: This message is displayed if the system was
not able compensate the product effect.
After pushing „O.K." the main menu for „Product teach-in" is activated again
in order to repeat the automatic teach-in procedure. This is caused most
likely during the teach-in procedure by heavy interference or disturbances.
Possible reasons for unsuccessful teach-in procedure:

Remedy:
Repeat teach-in procedure
Ensure that metal-free product is
used for teach-in procedure and
repeat.
