Floppy Disk Drive Problems
If the OmniBook's floppy disk drive doesn't work
• Check the connection between the OmniBook and the expansion slice.
• Check settings in the Setup utility —from the System Devices menu, check
FDD Controller.
• If trying to boot from a floppy disk, check the boot order in the Setup utility
(Boot menu). The default setting is A: then C:.
Hard Disk Drive Problems
If the OmniBook's hard disk drive doesn't spin
• Check the power source.
If the hard disk drive makes buzzing or whining noise
• Back up the drive immediately.
If files are corrupted
• First, back up the files on the drive.
• Run a virus scan program.
• Boot to DOS and run CHKDSK to look for problems, then run CHKDSK /f to fix.
• Run Scandisk surface scan to check the platter.
• Use the Recovery CD to recover files that are corrupted.
