9. Select and run the appropriate tests. Tests are dimmed if no such hardware is
detected. Press the following keys to run tests:
ENTER
F5 or SPACE

Batch menu, Run Batch Test, ENTER runs all marked tests. If any test fails, the
error is logged (error code and description) and displayed temporarily (error
code).
10. Exit. When you are finished running tests, remove the diagnostic disk or
Recovery CD, then press ESC to exit and reboot.
11. Optional: Check the log. On any computer, open the HPSUPPT.TXT log file on
the floppy disk using Notepad or other text editor. It contains a list of all test
results and errors.
•
To test the serial and parallel ports, make sure they are enabled (on) in the
Setup utility, Advanced menu.
•
To test Suspend/Resume, make sure that the Switch Button is set to Sus/Res, and
Resume On Time is set to On in the Setup utility, Power Saving menu.
•
To test IR, make sure that the infrared port (Serial Port B) is enabled and its
Mode is set to FIR in the Setup utility, Advanced menu, I/O Device
Configuration.
Runs the highlighted test.
Marks or unmarks the highlighted test.
Marks or unmarks all tests in the current menu.
Marks or unmarks all tests in all menus.
