Power and Battery Problems

If the OmniBook turns off immediately after it turns on
• The battery power is probably extremely low. Plug in the ac adapter, or connect
a charged battery slice.
If the OmniBook has a short operating time
• Try conserving power using any of the suggestions listed under "To save battery
power" on page 3-11.
• Turn down the display brightness.
• Check the Power Management settings in the Setup utility. Make sure they are
set to Maximum Power Savings.
If the computer's battery doesn't charge
• Make sure the ac adapter is plugged into the power source.
• Check that the ac adapter cables are fully plugged in.
• Move the OmniBook away from any nearby heat source. Unplug the ac adapter
and allow the battery to cool down. An elevated battery temperature prevents
charging.
• If available, try another ac adapter.
• Refer to the Support and Service booklet for service or a replacement battery.
If the battery slice doesn't charge
• If the battery slice is connected to the OmniBook or to the multimedia
expansion slice, the ac power must be connected to the OmniBook, not the
battery slice.
• If connected to the OmniBook, the battery slice charges after the computer's
battery is fully charged.
• Connect ac power to the battery slice only if the battery slice is not connected to
the computer or the multimedia expansion slice.
