If problems occur when starting the Compaq Pro UPS 500, select the
appropriate symptom for possible causes and suggested actions.

UPS power cord disconnected.

No utility power.

Indicators:
Battery voltage is low because the UPS
BATTERY
has been stored for an extended period
LOW/REPLACE
of time without charging.
LINE STATUS

Battery voltage is low because UPS

supported a load (and performed
shutdown) during a blackout.

Possible Cause
Suggested Action
Connect power cord.
Contact a qualified
electrician to check power
at the utility power
receptacle.
If desired, the UPS can be
used as a stand-alone
power source. See "Start-
On-Battery Operation" in
Chapter 3.
Allow the UPS to charge
the battery for 12 hours.
Initiate a self-test. If
indicators illuminate again,
replace the battery.
