Connecting Devices to the UPS
After verifying that the UPS will not overload, connect the power cords from
the devices to the appropriate receptacles of the UPS. Observe the following
precautions:
WARNING: Risk of electric shock or personal injury. This device has not been
evaluated for use with medical equipment. Do not use this UPS in conjunction
with any medical equipment application.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, the combined earth conductor
leakage current from all connected devices must not exceed 3.5 mA.
CAUTION:
I
Do not plug laser printers into the Battery-and Surge-Protected receptacles
of the Compaq Pro UPS 500. The instantaneous current drawn by this type
of printer may overload the UPS circuit.
I
Never plug a UPS into itself. This WILL result in damage to the unit.
I
Always use the 3-prong grounding type plug, if the device is equipped
accordingly. Do not use an adapter or otherwise bypass the ground pin.
I
The use of an external surge protector plugged into the OUTPUT of the UPS
may cause the UPS to become overloaded when operating from battery
power. Since the UPS already has surge suppression circuitry, adding extra
surge suppression is not recommended.
I
The load equipment must be turned OFF before plugging into the UPS.
