Connecting the UPS Communications Port

The Compaq Pro UPS 500 includes a communications port for data exchange
with the host computer.
Connect the RS-232 UPS/computer interface cable (supplied) from the
communications port on the UPS to the appropriate communications port on
the host computer.
CAUTION: The Compaq Pro UPS 500 uses a standard RS-232 cable. To avoid
damage to the equipment, do not use the communications cables supplied with
other UPS models.
IMPORTANT: The Compaq Power Manager Pro UPS software requires the use of the
communications port.
NOTE: Communications port connection is optional. The UPS will function properly
without communications port connection. However, without this connection, the Compaq
Power Manager Pro UPS software will not be able to shut down connected equipment in
the event of a blackout.
