This chapter introduces the main applications and features of the P-2024. It also introduces the
ways you can manage the P-2024.
1.1 Overview
The P-2024 is a 24-port VoIP Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA). Connect up to 24 analog
telephones via the Telco-50 (RJ-21) port in order to make and receive voice calls over the
Internet (VoIP).
The following figure shows telephones connected to a Main Distribution Frame (MDF) using
the P-2024 (A) to connect to a router (B) with Internet access. The phones can call other
phones (C) via the Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP).

See the appendix on product specifications for a full list of features.
1.2 Ways to Manage the P-2024
Use any of the following methods to manage the P-2024.
• Web Configurator. This is recommended for everyday management of the P-2024 using a
(supported) web browser.
• Command Line Interface. Line commands offer an alternative to the Web Configurator
and may be necessary to configure advanced features.
• SMT. System Management Terminal is a text-based configuration menu that you can use
to configure your device.
• FTP. Use File Transfer Protocol for firmware upgrades and configuration backup/restore.
• SNMP. The device can be monitored and/or managed by an SNMP manager.
