Set the speed range switch
Your machine has two ranges of speed -- a low range for
slower, intricate work and high one for faster, general work.
On the low setting the machine will sew no faster than
appoximatelytwo-thirdthe speed of the high one, even when
the foot controlis fully depressed.
NOTE:
It is advisable not to change the speed range
switch while machine is running.
Changing

Turn off the power switch.
Raise the needle to its highest position by turning
the handwheel counterclockwise, toward you, and
lowering the presser foot.
Loosen the needle clamp screw (_ by turning it
counterclockwise.
Remove the needle from the needle clamp Q_).

Insert a new needle into the needle clamp (_) with
the flat side to the rear.
When insertingthe needle into the needle clamp (_),
push itup as far as it goes. Tighten the needle clamp
screw 1_ firmly by turning it clockwise.

To check for a good needle, place the flat side of
the needle onto somethingflat (needle plate, glass,
etc.)
The gap between the needle and the flat surface
should be consistent. Never use a bent or blunt
needle.
A damaged needle can cause permanent snags
or runs in knits, fine silks and silk-like fabrics.
To Remove and Attach the Foot Holder

1_) Presser bar

To remove:
Remove the thumb screw O by turning it
counterclockwise with a screwdriver.

To attach:
Match the hole in the foot holder(_ with the threaded
hole in the presser bar(_). Fit the thumb screwO into
the hole. _ghten the screw (_) by turning it clockwise
with screwdriver.
