Playing while you are recording

Playing from the beginning of the programme you are
recording— Follow-on play [A]

You can start play from the beginning of a programme while continuing to record it.

Preparation
Switch [DVD, TV] to "DVD".
While recording or timer recording
Press [1, PLAY].
Play starts from the beginning of the programme being recorded.
ªTo stop play and recording
1) Press [∫, STOP]. Play stops.
Wait 2 seconds.
2) Press [∫, STOP]. Recording stops.
≥You cannot stop recording with [∫, STOP] during timer recording. To stop timer recording,
press [Á, TIMER REC].
For your reference
≥The playback images are displayed during follow-on play.
≥Sound is not output while fast-forwarding.
≥Play cannot be started until at least 2 seconds after recording starts.
≥If you fast-forward and get to within a few seconds of the part being recorded, the picture will
change to show the images currently being played.
≥The operation is shown on the unit's display (page 7).
≥If you fast forward to the part being recorded, there will be a small difference in time between
the playback image and the recorded signal. (Approx. 4

Simultaneous recording and play [B]

You can start play of the programme you are recording or play a programme previously
recorded.
Preparation
Switch [DVD, TV] to "DVD".
During recording or timer recording

Press [TOP MENU, DIRECT NAVIGATOR].
≥"µ" is displayed in the direct navigator to indicate the programme is being recorded
(page 47).
Use the joystick [3, 4] to select a programme and press [ENTER].

ªTo stop play and recording
1) Press [∫, STOP]. Play stops.
Wait 2 seconds.
2) Press [∫, STOP]. Recording stops.
≥You cannot stop recording with [∫, STOP] during timer recording. To stop timer recording,
press [Á, TIMER REC].
For your reference
≥During simultaneous rec and play, you cannot edit with the direct navigator or use play lists.
≥If you start play while the unit is on standby for timer recording, recording starts when the time
you set is reached.
≥The unit returns to recording standby when you stop play while it is on standby for timer
recording.
≥The operation is shown on the unit's display (page 7).
