Refer to the chart below when this unit does not function
properly.
If the problem
you are experiencing
is not listed below
or if the instruction
below does not help, set this unit 1o the standby
mode, disconnect
the power
cord, and contact
the
nearest
authorized
YAMAHA
dealer or service
center.

Problem
This unit fails to turn
on when STANDBY/
ON (or SYSTEM
POWER) is pressed,
or enters in the
standby mode soon
after the power has
been turned on.
On screen display
does not appear.
No sound
No picture
Cause
The power cord is not connected
or the
plug is not completely
inserted.
Tile impedance
setting is incolTeCt.
Tile protection
circuitry
has been
activated.
This unit has been exposed
to a strong
external
electric
shock (such as lightning
and strong static electricity).
Tile setting for the on-screen
display
is set
to "DISPLAY
OFF".
GRAY BACK in the SET MENU
is set to
OFF, and no video signal is currently
being received.
Incorrect
input or output cable
connections.
INPUT
MODE
is set to DTS or
ANALOG.
No appropriate
input source
has been
selected.
Speaker
connections
are not secure.
The front speakers
to be used have not
been selected
properly.
Tile volume is turned down.
Tile sound is muted.
If you are playing
an LD som'ce, the
player may not output digital signals
if the
LD source
was not digitally
recorded.
Tile INPUT
MODE
is set Io ANALOG
while playing a som'ce encoded
with a
DTS signal.
The signals this unit cannot reproduce
are
being received
from a source
component
e.g.: a CD-ROM.
The output and input tk)r the picture
are
connected
to dirt?rent
types of video

Connect the power cod
firmly.

Set the impedance
to malch your speakers.
Make sure al! speaker
wire connections
on this unit
and on all speakers
are secure and that the wire tbr
each connection
does not touch anything
other than
its respective
connection.
Set this unit in the standby
mode, disconnect
the
power cord, plug it back in after 30 seconds,
lhen use
it normally.
Select
the fall or ShOll display
mode.
Set GRAY BACK Io AUTO to always show the OSD.
Connect
the cables properly.
If the problem persists,
the cables may be det?ctive.
Select AUTO.
Select
an appropriate
input source with INPUT,
MULTI CH INPUT
or the input selector
buttons.
Secure
the connections.
Select
the front speakers
with SPEAKERS
A and/or
B.
Turn up the vOlulne.
Press MUTE or any operation
buttons
of this unit to
cancel a mute and adjust the volume.
Set lhe INPUT
MODE
to ANALOG.
Set lhe INPUT
MODE
to AUTO or DTS.
Play a source whose signals
this unit can reproduce.
Turn on the video conversion
function.
