To listen with headphones (SILENT CINEMA)
The SILENT CINEMA mode allows you m enjoy multi=
channel music or movie sound, including Dolby Digital
and DTS sun'ound, through ordinary headphones.
SILENT CINEMA activates automatically whenever you
connect headphones to the PHONES jack while listening
to CINEMA DSP or HiFi DSP sound field programs. The
"SILENT CINEMA" indicator lights up on the front panel
display. (If the sound field programs are oft', you listen
with normal stereo reproduction.)
This unit will not be set to the SILENT CINEMA mode when
MULTI CH INPUT is selected as the input source.
To adjust the tone
TONE CONTROL

You can adjust the bass/treble
balance for the front left/right and
cenler channels.
Press TONE CONTROL
repeatedly on the front panel to
select TREBLE or BASS.
Select TREBLE, then rotate
PROGRAM m the right or left to
increase or decrease the high-
frequency response.
Select BASS, then rotate PROGRAM to the right or left to
increase or decrease the low-frequency response.
"Ib cancel the tone control, press TONE CONTROL
repeatedly to select BYPASS.
• If you increase or decrease the high-frequency or the low-
frequency sound m an extreme level, the tonal quality of the
surround speakers may not match that of the front left/right and
center speakers.
• TONE CONTROL is not effective when THX (page 41) oz"
DIRECT STEREO (page 33) program is selected, or when
MULTI CH INPUT is selected.
• TONE CONTROL is not ef}?ctive tbr headphones. Use HP
TONE CTRL m adjust bass/treble balance fk_rthe headphones
(page 53).
To mute the sound
Press MUTE on the remote control. MUTE
"MUTE" blinks in the front panel
display.
"Ib resume Ihe audio output, press
MUTE again. (or press VOL -/+). "MUTE" disappem_s
from the display.

When "MULTI CH INPUT" is shown on the fi'ont panel display
and/or the video monitor, no other source can be played. To select
another input source with INPUT (one of the input selector
buttons), press MULTI CH INPUT to turn off"MULTI CH
INPUT" from the t}ont panel display and the video monitor.
• Playing video sources in the
background
You can combine a video image from a video source with
a sound from an audio source. For example, you can enjoy
lislening to classical music while having beautiful scenery
from the video source on the video monitor.
Use the input selector buttons to select a video source,
then select an audio source.
If you want to enjoy an audio source connected to the MULTI CH
INPUT jacks together with a video source, first select the video
source and then press MULTI CH INPUT.
