Introduction
Today's corporate networks commonly encompass hundreds or thousands of systems, including
individual end user systems, servers, network devices such as printers, and internetworking systems.
™
Extreme Networks
recognizes that network managers have different needs, and delivers a suite of
management tools to meet those needs.
™
The EPICenter
Management Suite is a scalable full-featured network management tool that simplifies
configuration, troubleshooting, and status monitoring of IP-based networks. Offering a comprehensive
set of network management applications providing the ability to configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and
manage the network and its elements, EPICenter delivers on both the basic requirements of network
management while adding valuable and intuitive features that help save time by streamlining common
tasks.
EPICenter offers a comprehensive set of network management applications that are easy to use from a
workstation running EPICenter client software, or from a workstation configured with a web browser
and the Java plug-in.
EPICenter leverages the three-tier client/server architecture framework represented by Java applets. The
EPICenter application and database support three of the most popular operating environments in the
marketplace, Microsoft Windows XP/2003 Server, Redhat Linux, and Sun Microsystems' Solaris.
EPICenter Features
In large corporate networks, network managers need to manage systems "end to end."
The EPICenter software is a powerful, flexible and easy-to-use application for centralizing configuration,
troubleshooting, and status monitoring of IP-based networks of Extreme Networks switches and
selected third-party devices, regardless of the network size.
EPICenter establishes a new benchmark for accommodating convergence applications by offering
intuitive user interfaces and by reducing the complexity of managing converged networking
environments. EPICenter's open architecture to accommodates a multi-vendor, service rich environment
that enables voice-class availability and the enforcement of robust security policies.
Operational Simplicity. Simplicity begins with a detailed real-time view of the entire network.
●
EPICenter's topology view provides users with an overview of every element of the network and
how they all connect at Layer 2 and Layer 3. Centralized configuration management and firmware
