Section 2: Assembly
2. Plug the large connectorinto the bot-
tom of the ignition keyswitchthat is lo-
cated on the undersideof the handlebar
console (not pictured).
3. Usetwo cableties to secure the wire
harnessto the right handlebarand away
from any moving parts. Placethe ties an
equal distanceapart.
B. AttachWire Leadsto Battery
1. The battery is locatedat the rear,
right-side of the enginedeck.
2. At the lower end of the electrical
wiring harness,locatea red wire lead
and a black wire lead.
• Plugterminal on red (positive) wire into
red terminal (U, Figure2-3) on battery.
• Plug terminal on black (negative)wire
into blackterminal (V).
3. If applicable,attachwire harnessto
engine deck usingJ-clips (W, Figure
2-4) as shown. BendJ-clips overto
secure.

Charge battery only with charger sup-
plied with machine.Do not shortcircuit
battery wires. Removeany jewelry be-
fore workingon or near the battery or
electricstartsystem.
Failure to follow these instructions
could result in personalinjuryor prop-
erty damage.
C. Chargethe Battery
Chargea new batteryfor 24-48 hours to
ensurea full charge. If the mower must
be usedimmediately,the batterymay
haveenoughof a chargeto start the en-
gine. If not, the engine can be started
with the rope pull starter. NOTE:Charge
the batteryafter the initial useof the
mower to help ensureit is fully charged.
If battery is removed, do not operate
engine without insulating positive (+)
battery cable terminal with electrical
tape or sparkingfrom batteryceils can
result.
1. To chargethe battery, locatethe plas-
tic connector (T, Figure2-5) that hangs
from the wire harnessbelow the handle-
bar console.
2. Plug the connectoron the battery
charger(Z, Figure2-5) into the connec-
tor on the wire harness(T).

Control rods are adjusted at the fac-

sembling
unit,
control
rod
adjustment should be checked (and
re-adjusted,if necessary) according to
information in Maintenance Section.
Failureto follow this instruction could
result in severe personal injury or
propertydamage.
3. Plug the battery chargerinto a 120V
groundedwall outlet. NOTE:The battery
chargeris designedfor use indoors and
should not be exposedto rain or snow.
4. Chargebatteryfor 24-48 hours.
5. After charging, unplug battery
chargerfrom wall outlet,then unplug
chargerfrom wire harness.
STEP 4: Attach Control Rods
A. AttachWheel DriveControl R od
1. Locatethe wheeldrive control rod (F,
Figures2-6A & 2-7) and removethe an-
gled end from the left handlebarby re-
moving the hairpin clip which securesit
to the WheelDrive Control lever (V,
Figure2-6A)
2. At left side of enginedeck, insert
swivel block (H, Figures2-6 & 2-7) on
wheel drive control rod into wheeldrive
control arm (U, Figure2-6).
