CLEANING UNDERSIDE OF
MOWER DECK
Mowerbladesare sharp.
Whenworkingnear blades, wear heavy
leather glovesor wrap blades in thick
rags to protectyourselffrom the sharp
edges.
Frequentlycheck,and cleanif necessary,
the undersideof the mower deck. Grass
build-up in this area canaffect the cut-
ting performance.Beforeinspectingor
cleaning, makesure that the engine is
shut off and the spark plug wire is
disconnectedfrom the spark plug.
Inspection/Cleaning of Mower Deck:
1. Stepengine, waitfor all parts to
stopmoving,and disconnect s park
plug wire.
2. Tip mower on rear wheels by follow-
ing instructions'q-ippingMower For
Service"in this Section.
3. Usea plastic or metal scraperto
removegrass build-up from deck or
blades.
LUBRICATION
Oil and greasethe mower according to
the recommendationslisted in the
Lubrication Charton the next page.
• Stopengine, waitfor allparts tostop
moving,and disconnect s parkplug
wirebeforeperformingany lubrication
procedures.
• Thetransmission has beenfactory
sealedand requiresno lubrication. If a
leakshould develop,contact the factory
or your localauthorizeddealerfor
serviceinformation.
OFF-SEASONSTORAGE
• Stopengine, waitfor allparts tostop
moving,and disconnect s parkplug
wirebeforeperformingany storage
procedures.Reviewthestoragesafety
rulesin the SafetySectionof this
Manual.
• If enginewill be unusedfor 30 days or
more, prepare it for storageby following
the recommendedproceduresfound in
the EngineOwner's Manual.
• Inspectall parts for damage,breakage,
and wear. Tighten or replacefasteners.
Contactthe factory or your local
authorizeddealerfor factory-approved
replacementparts.
• Cleanthe exterior of the mower thor-
oughly and touch up all chippedor
scratchedsurfacesto prevent rust from
forming.
Never store machine with fuel in the
fuel tank insidea buildingwhere fumes
may reach an openflame or spark, or
where ignition sources are present
such as hot water and space heaters,
furnaces,clothes dryers, stoves, elec-
tric motors,etc.
