It isnot guaranteed that theunitwilloperatecorrectly underallcircum-
stances witha PBX. A ny casesofdifficulty shouldbe reported firsttothe
company that handlesyourPBX.

recommended thattheAnswer M ode besetto MANUAL. Allincoming calls
shouldinitially be regarded astelephone calls.

Custom Features on Your Phone Line
If you have Call Waiting,Ring Master,VoiceMail,an answeringservice,alarm
systemor any other custom feature on your telephone line, it may create a
problem in the operation of yourfax machine.
Connecting a Telephone Answering
Device (TAD)
Sequence
Whenyouhavea TAD on thesametelephone lineas thefaxmachine,theTA1)
answers a ll calls.Thefaxmachine"listens"forfaxcalling(CNG) t ones.If it
hearsthem,thefaxmachinetakesoverthecall and receives t hefax.If itdoesn't
hearCNG tones,the faxmachineletstheTAD continueplayingyouroutgoing
message so yourcallercanleaveyoua voicemessage.

faxmachinecannothearCNG tonesuntiltheTAD has answered the call,and
with4 ringsthereareonly8-10seconds o fCNG tonesleftforthefax "hand-
shake." Makesureyoucarefullyfollowinstructionsin this manualfor record-
ing youroutgoingmessage. D onotusea "toll-saver" r ingsettingonthe TAD.
