Recording bundled serial numbers

At installation stickers are provided that record the bundled serial numbers for the configuration
that you have purchased. HP service engineers will add the stickers to a chart, which you should
store in the rack. This ensures that you can easily retrieve them, even if the serial numbers on the
hardware components themselves become obscured as you add more storage.

Accessing the CLI

Many of the topics in this section require access to the Command Line Interface (CLI). They cannot
be executed from the GUI. There is a separate CLI Reference Guide, which you should use for
more detailed information. However, a brief summary of how to access the CLI is also included in
this guide.
The user access is the same as the GUI, with the same roles. The Admin user has access to
all available CLI commands. The Operator user can view status and configurations but is not
able to make configuration changes.
Access is via the Management VIF.

To access the CLI

The CLI can be accessed:
Remotely: using a ssh session to the Active Management Console (use PuTTY).
ssh <username>@<vif_address>
By a physical direct connection: connect a keyboard (USB or PS2) and VGA console to the
node that is running the Active Management Console. There is a blue beacon LED on the front
of the node, which will be on if that node is running the Active Management Console.

Power off and power on

There are no commands within the GUI to control the power on/off or reboot of a node or cluster.
All the commands should be run from the CLI.

these serial numbers.
Couplets (both racks). The bundled serial number for the couplet can most easily be read on top of
Node B. Couplets also have a toe tag attached to each item in the couplet (the two nodes and the
two P2000 controllers)..
