Replacing a power supply
This section provides information about the following topics:
DANGER
Power supplies are hot swappable. However, Dell recommends that you disconnect the power
supply from AC power before installing or removing the supply. The device can be running while a
power supply is being installed or removed, but the power supply itself should not be connected
to a power source. Otherwise, you could be injured or the power supply or other parts of the
device could be damaged.

Installation precautions and warnings

Follow these precautions when installing a power supply in the PowerConnect B-Series TI24X .
DANGER
Before beginning the installation, refer to the precautions in
CAUTION
Do not install the device in an environment where the operating ambient temperature might
exceed 40°C (104°F).
CAUTION
Never leave tools inside the device.

Determining which power supply failed

The Show Chassis command displays status information for the power supplies and the fans. If you
are not sure which Power supply has failed or you not applid AC Voltage, enter the following
command at any CLI command prompt:
PowerConnect# show chassis
Power supply 1 (NA - NA - Regular) present, status ok
Power supply 2 not present
Fan 1 ok, speed (auto): [[1]]<->2<->3
Fan 2 ok, speed (auto): [[1]]<->2<->3
Fan 3 ok, speed (auto): [[1]]<->2<->3
Fan controlled temperature: 0.0 deg-C
Fan speed switching temperature thresholds:
