Part 3: Configuring the HP NetRAID Adapter

In Parts 1 and 2, you installed additional hardware in your HP NetServers to support cluster operations, and
configured both the HP NetServers and the shared storage units for use in the cluster. In Part 3, you will be
configuring the HP NetRAID Adapters you installed in Systems A and B using the HP NetRAID Express Tool.
To configure the HP NetRAID Adapter, at both Systems A and B:
1.
Ensure that Systems A and B are not cabled to the shared storage cabinets. Premature cabling of the
external storage units to the HP NetServers will confuse later configuration steps.
2.
Power up Systems A and B.
During server boot-up, the firmware displays the HP NetRAID version after initialization and a quick
channel scan. The HP NetRAID firmware version number should read firmware version A.03.10
or later.
NOTE
The NetRAID boot banner first displays a BIOS version and then a firmware version. Both
versions must be A.03.10 or later.
If the NetRAID firmware version is not A.03.10 or later, it must be updated using the procedure in
Appendix B, "Updating the NetRAID Firmware."
3.
Use the HP NetRAID Express Tools to configure the adapter. When the following prompt appears:
Option: Experienced users may press <Ctrl> <M>
for HP NetRAID Express Tools now.
Press CTRL+M.
When system scanning is complete, HP NetRAID Express Tools Management menu appears.
NOTE
HP NetRAID Express Tools are management and diagnostic utilities that contain functions not
available in HP NetRAID Assistant.
4.
From the Management menu, choose Disable BIOS, then choose Yes.
HP NetRAID Express Tools displays the message, "BIOS Is Currently Disabled".
5.
From the Management menu, choose Objects | SCSI Channel.
Select and then disable the Ultra SCSI option for all three channels.
6.
From the Management menu, choose Objects | Adapter | Cluster Mode.
Choose Enable and then Yes. The display confirms "Cluster Mode Enabled."
7.
Optional: You may want to disable Alarms at this point.
From the Management menu, choose Objects | Adapter | Alarm Control | Disable Alarm.
8.
From the Management menu, choose Objects | Adapter | Initiator ID.
Set the Initiator ID as follows:
On System A, set the Initiator ID to 7.
On System B, set the Initiator ID to 6.
