Testing the Cluster Installation

The installation of an HP NetServer cluster is checked by running two tests. The Microsoft Cluster Administrator
Sanity test is run, then the HP Cluster Installation Test is run.
The Microsoft Cluster Administrator Sanity test is run on a node of the cluster and uses the cluster administrator to
perform some basic cluster tests.
The HP Cluster Installation Test is run by a certified installer on a cluster client. The test guides him through the
process of registering a cluster and testing it to insure it is installed correctly. It provides information, tests failover,
and prints a certificate required for HP customer support.
Running the Microsoft cluster administrator sanity test
1.
On either System A or System B, insert the Microsoft Windows NT, Enterprise Edition Component CD in
the drive. In a DOS window, go to the \mscs\support directory on the CD and execute:
Setuptst.bat C:\castest.
Setuptst.bat will create the directory castest on c: and copy the test files from the CD to drive c:.
CAUTION
Once the test is started DO NOT press any keyboard keys or move the mouse until the test is
completed. If you do, the test will fail.
2.
At the C:\castest prompt, type castest.bat <cluster name> and press Enter to start the test.
3.
The Cluster Administrator Sanity test creates a test result file (cluadms.log) in the C:\castest directory.
4.
When the test finishes, view the cluadms.log file using Notepad (Start | Programs | Accessories | Notepad).
Look at the test report, towards the end of the log file, and check that all tests and variations passed and
there were no errors.
5.
Delete the C:\castest directory.
For more information see \Mscs\support\casread.txt on the component CD.
