Microsoft Cluster Administrator, Assigning a Cluster Name
4.
Enter a name for the cluster.
Make note of the name you enter here. You will need to provide the identical name during Microsoft
Cluster Server software setup at System A.
Click Next.
5.
Setup allows you to specify a directory in which to install the cluster files. Select a directory and click
Next.
6.
Setup requires a domain account to run MSCS in. Specify an appropriate account and click Next.
7.
You are presented with a list of disks to be shared in the cluster and provided the option to remove those
you do not want to share. Remove only disks that you want to reserve for the exclusive use of System B.
Normally you would share all disks listed. Click Next.
8.
Setup prompts you to select a disk on which to store permanent cluster files. Cluster Administrator uses the
disk you select to synchronize the cluster nodes and store a cluster log file. The disk must always be
available to the cluster. Select the disk that you will commit to keep online.
Click Next.
9.
Setup now scans the System's network resources (i.e. LAN adapters) so they can be configured for cluster
use. The scan starts with Slot 9 and finishing with Slot 1. Each identified network resource is presented for
configuration. Note that intra-cluster (heartbeat) network adapter is presented and configured before the
client-network adapter.
