The front panel of the storage system includes two-digit, seven-segment LEDs. Because the LEDs are powered by
the internal power supply, if the power supply is not functioning you will not see a display. When operations are
normal, the display shows "HP" or the unit identification number.
Typical error messages related to power-up problems include:
Fan Fault Display show "FF" alternately with "HP" Do not continue to operate the storage system without
a functional fan as the disk drives will quickly overheat.
Power Supply Fault Display shows "PF" blinking alternately with "HP" (The voltage switch may not be
set correctly or a power supply is not working. Check to see find if the line power voltage matches the
voltage switch setting (for example, 115 volts in the U.S. and 230 volts in Europe).
Line Power Fault Display shows "LF" blinking alternately with "HP". Check to be certain that line power
is properly connected to each power supply and to viable power sources.
CAUTION Do not run the storage system if the fan is not operational.

Configuring the Arrays: System A
You configure the cluster's arrays using HP NetRAID Assistant. Unlike most other cluster setup procedures, you
configure the arrays only once, on System A. Later, you will confirm you have matching arrays on System B.
Before beginning array configuration, you need to partially boot System B so the HP NetRAID adapters in System
A and B can communicate array configuration information to one another.
To partially boot Windows NT you need to halt the system when it reaches the NT Loader prompt:
1. Reboot System B.
During bootup, you will be prompted to select the operating system you want to start.
2. Press the Esc key to hold the boot at the loader prompt.
Pressing Esc puts the partially completed boot process on hold until you select the operating system and
press Enter.
Now start NetRAID Assistant on System A:
3. With System B holding at the NT loader prompt, boot System A to NT.
Defining RAID Arrays
With System B on hold, you can now use HP NetRAID Assistant (on System A) to create and initialize the shared
logical disks. You use proprietary HP NetRAID software to organize the cluster's disk storage into RAID disk
arrays, either RAID level 1 or RAID level 5.
Each level 1 RAID array is composed of two hard (hot swap) drives located in the external shared storage
cabinets.
