Replacing an Optical Drive

Your computer comes with two optical drives
(CD-ROM, DVD, and/or CD-Writer) that you can
replace or upgrade.
To remove an optical drive:
1 Turn off the computer and all peripherals.
2 Disconnect the modem/phone cable.
3 Disconnect the power cord and all other
attached cables (such as the keyboard, mouse,
and monitor).
4 Remove the front drive cover (see "Removing
the Front Drive Cover" on page 6).
5 Remove the side panel (see "Removing the
Side Panel" on page 7).
6 Slide the drive cage halfway out (see "Sliding
the Drive Cage In and Out" on page 8).

7 Disconnect the power and IDE cables attached
to the back of the optical drive.
8 Remove the two screws (B or C) on the side of
the optical drive.
