Memory Cartridge Guidelines

The ProLiant DL760 G2 server has five Hot Plug RAID Memory cartridges. They
are designed to allow the removal of a single cartridge while the server is running.
CAUTION: The system will halt with more than one memory cartridge removed.
The ProLiant DL760 G2 server has eight memory banks, each consisting of five
DIMMs installed across the five memory cartridges. Similar DIMMs are installed in
bank pairs (1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8) for memory interleaving to increase performance.
NOTE: For more details, refer to the memory cartridge covers or DIMM installation guidelines
later in this chapter.
Memory Cartridge Requirements
The following requirements are the minimum Hot Plug RAID Memory configuration
requirements:
Five cartridges must be installed.
All five cartridges must have the same configuration and type of DIMMs
installed for redundancy (refer to diagram on cartridge cover).
IMPORTANT: The server will run in non-RAID memory configuration mode if all DIMM
sockets in cartridge 5 are empty.
All DIMMs must be supported by the system (refer to QuickSpecs).
All DIMMs in a bank pair must be same speed, type, and size. They should have
the same part number (for example 123456-12x, where x is not required to
match).
